TACOMA, Wash. — Tacoma shut out Pierce 4-0 on Wednesday, dominating with 21 shots on goal and maintaining a clean sheet.
The first half began with Tacoma asserting control early, despite an initial offside call and a few missed opportunities. Olivia Meyer was solid in goal, making key saves to keep Pierce scoreless. Tacoma's breakthrough came in the 21st minute when Laura Corr scored the opening goal, seizing the advantage.
Building on this momentum, Railee Hutton extended the lead in the 25th minute with a goal assisted by Corr. Tacoma continued to apply pressure, creating several chances, but Pierce's defense and goalkeeper Rylee Kline managed to prevent further scoring. The half concluded with Tacoma leading 2-0.
The second half began with Tacoma maintaining their momentum from the first half. Corr extended the lead with a goal in the 55th minute, assisted by Hutton, following a series of offensive pushes. The home side continued to apply pressure, and Corr found the net again in the 60th minute, with Hutton once more providing the assist, to increase the advantage.
Despite Pierce's attempts to respond, including a missed penalty kick by Elena Iniguez saved by River Beck, Tacoma's defense remained firm. The home team concluded the half with a commanding 4-0 lead, maintaining control and securing a decisive victory.
Corr led Tacoma with three goals and an assist, converting all nine of her shots on goal. Hutton contributed significantly with one goal and two assists, taking five shots with two on target. Meyer, in goal, recorded three saves, maintaining a clean sheet in her 45 minutes of play. Melanie Rojas-Perez was active offensively with five shots, three of which were on goal.
Kline made a significant impact in goal with 14 saves over 90 minutes, facing 18 shots in total. Iniguez and Grace Atkinson both contributed offensively with two shots each, all of which were on target. Ruby Pearson also added to the attacking effort, registering one shot on goal.
The next challenge for the Titans sees them traveling to Centralia on Saturday, Oct. 25. The match is set to begin at 2:15 p.m. in Centralia, WA, as Tacoma looks to secure a victory on the road.
