Titans advance to the NWAC Final Four
TACOMA, Wash. — Tacoma (16-1-3, 8-3-1) dominated Umpqua (11-5-1, 11-4-1) with a decisive 6-0 victory on Saturday at the NWAC Quarterfinals.
Tacoma quickly established control in the first half with a goal in the second minute by Emma Hoover, assisted by Melanie Rojas-Perez. Rojas-Perez continued to influence the game, adding a goal of her own in the ninth minute with an assist from Laura Corr. The Titans maintained offensive pressure throughout the period, outshooting Umpqua and forcing multiple defensive saves. The half ended with Tacoma leading 2-0.
Tacoma capitalized on a strong offensive performance in the second half, netting four unanswered goals against Umpqua. Amelia Recardo opened the scoring in the 55th minute, followed by Railee Hutton, Corr, and Madison Coulter, each extending the lead with assists from Hoover and Rojas-Perez. Tacoma's defense limited Umpqua to a single off-target shot, helping secure a decisive 6-0 victory.
Corr contributed significantly with one goal and one assist, converting all five of her shots into shots on goal. Hoover scored a game-winning goal and added two assists, with both of her shots being on target. Rojas-Perez tallied one goal and two assists, ensuring all three of her attempts were on goal. Sarah Stochel secured a shutout in goal, making one save in the match.
Kayden Twichell played a key role in goal, recording two saves while facing four shots during their 45:40 on the field. Emersyn Gutierrez contributed with three saves, facing seven shots in 44:20 of play. On offense, Lola Maniscalco was notable with one shot on goal out of her single attempt. Katrina Beltran and Siulose Jones each had one shot, though neither was on target.
After the game, head coach Jill Green praised the team's effort, stating, "This team has worked hard all season and carries a lot of belief. They attacked the game and fought for each other.
