Titans finish conference play undefeated in the West Region
LACEY, Wash. — Tacoma Community College (15-1-3, 12-0-2) secured a commanding 4-0 victory over South Puget Sound Community College (4-14-1, 2-11-1) on the road on Wednesday. Tacoma's relentless attack was highlighted by a dominant 23 shots with 16 on target, while their defense limited SPSCC to just two shots.
Tacoma took early control in the first half with an aggressive offensive display, culminating in a 2-0 lead. Railee Hutton opened the scoring in the fifth minute and later assisted Emma Hoover's goal just before halftime at the 43rd minute. Despite being flagged offside five times, Tacoma maintained pressure with 12 shots, forcing SPSCC's goalkeeper, Kiki Warbus, to make six saves.
Tacoma capitalized on their attacking opportunities in the second half, securing a decisive 4-0 victory. Shalai Jamison converted a penalty kick in the 75th minute, extending their lead to 3-0. Tacoma continued to press offensively, with Madison Coulter adding another goal in the 89th minute, assisted by Aleigha Woodland. Tacoma's relentless corner kick pressure, totaling six in the half, contributed to maintaining control and keeping SPSCC scoreless.
Hutton led Tacoma with a goal and an assist, finding the back of the net once and assisting another in the match. Coulter also contributed a goal, converting both of her shot attempts into shots on goal. Hoover added to the scoreline with a goal, successfully placing both her shots on target. In the defensive end, Olivia Meyer recorded a shutout with two saves in goal, maintaining a clean sheet for the team.
Warbus stood out in goal for SPSCC, recording 12 saves across 90 minutes despite facing 16 shots on target. Liana Juan and Kendra Rose each contributed offensively, with both players managing a shot on goal. Their efforts highlighted an otherwise challenging match for SPSCC.
Tacoma holds a record of 15-1-3 overall and a 12-0-2 mark in conference play. SPSCC stands at 4-14-1 overall with a 2-11-1 conference record.
