TItans win two games in a row on the road
KENT, Wash. — Tacoma Community College (6-1-1) secured a decisive 3-0 victory over Green River College (0-5-2) on Wednesday at Wilson Playfields, with the Titans' defense allowing only two shots on goal.
The first half began with Tacoma establishing a strong offensive presence, highlighted by Josie Harris scoring the opening goal in the 17th minute, assisted by Madison Coulter. Just three minutes later, Laura Corr doubled the Titans' lead with a goal assisted by Allison Mavin, putting Tacoma ahead 2-0. Despite numerous shots on goal, including a strike by Emma Hoover that hit the crossbar, Tacoma maintained their advantage. Olivia Meyer made crucial saves to keep Green River scoreless through the half, which ended 2-0.
The second half began with Tacoma maintaining pressure, highlighted by Jayme Gieger finding the back of the net in the 66th minute to extend Tacoma's lead to 3-0. Corr and Mersedes Baltazar both tested Green River's goalkeeper Shaliyah Dupar, who managed to keep the Titans' shots at bay with crucial saves. Despite several offside calls and shots going astray, Tacoma's defensive efforts held firm, preserving the lead until the final whistle.
Tacoma took an early lead against Green River, scoring twice in the first half to secure a 2-0 advantage. Harris opened the scoring in the 17th minute with an assist from Coulter, and Corr doubled the lead just three minutes later with an assist from Mavin. Despite committing six fouls, the Titans maintained offensive pressure with 12 shots, five of which were on target, while goalkeeper Meyer recorded two saves to keep Green River scoreless.
The Titans extended their lead to a decisive 3-0 victory over Green River with a goal from Gieger in the 66th minute. Tacoma's offensive efforts were persistent, tallying several attempts including a shot by Peyton Tomlinson that hit the crossbar in the 71st minute, and multiple saves by Green River's goalkeeper, Dupar. Despite the Titans' eight shots on goal in the second half, Green River was unable to find the net, managing only one shot that went wide.
Gieger scored a goal on her only shot, which was also on target for Tacoma. Corr added another goal, leading the team with four shots, three of which were on goal. Harris netted the game-winning goal, her shot also contributing to the team's total score. Coulter provided an assist, contributing to the team's offensive output in the match.
Dupar stood out for Green River with a notable nine saves, facing 12 shots throughout the match. Masyn Ribail contributed defensively while also making her presence known offensively with one shot on goal. Dalila Ortiz led the team's offensive efforts with two shots, including one on target.
The Titans improved to 6-1-1 overall and 6-1-1 in conference play after their victory. Green River falls to 0-5-2 overall and 0-3-1 in conference play following the loss.
