Dominant Tacoma CC Shuts Out Green River College
TACOMA, Wash. — Tacoma shut out Green River College 5-0 on Wednesday, dominating with 22 shots on goal, including a first-half performance that saw three goals.
The match began with Tacoma quickly taking control, as Laura Corr scored the opening goal in the second minute with an assist from Madison Coulter. Tacoma maintained offensive pressure, and Melanie Rojas-Perez converted a penalty kick in the eighth minute to extend the lead.
Midway through the period, Tacoma continued to dominate possession, with Alexandria DeGraw adding a third goal in the 20th minute, assisted by Rojas-Perez. Tacoma's defense held firm, allowing only one shot from GRC, which was saved by Sarah Stochel. The first half concluded with Tacoma leading 3-0.
Tacoma opened the second half with a quick offensive push, highlighted by Corr's goal in the 49th minute, assisted by Coulter, to extend the lead to 4-0. Tacoma maintained pressure with multiple attempts, including shots by Rojas-Perez and Emma Hoover, both saved by GRC's goalkeeper Shaliyah Dupar.
As the half progressed, Tacoma continued to dominate possession, leading to Amelia Recardo finding the net with an assist from Railee Hutton in the 80th minute. Tacoma sustained their offensive efforts with several shots and corner kicks, closing the game with a secure 5-0 victory.
Corr scored two goals and led Tacoma with eight shots, six of which were on target. Rojas-Perez contributed both a goal and an assist, adding two shots on goal from three attempts. Recardo added to the team's tally with one goal from her two shots, while DeGraw finished with one goal from her single shot on target.
Dupar made a significant impact with 12 saves during the match, showcasing defensive resilience despite facing 17 shots. Lillana Savala and Dalila Ortiz each contributed to the offensive efforts, with Savala taking one shot and Ortiz managing a shot on goal. Samantha Escamilla added to the defensive strength with one defensive save, aiding her team in a challenging game.
Looking ahead, Tacoma will travel to Longview, WA, to face Lower Columbia on Saturday, Oct. 18. The match is set to begin at 12 p.m.
