PUYALLUP, Wash. — Tacoma Community College (4-3-1, 2-1-0) dominated Pierce College (0-7-2, 0-3-1) with a decisive 5-0 victory on Wednesday afternoon at Heritage Rec Center, scoring four goals in the first half.
The first half showcased Tacoma's offensive prowess, beginning with
Nathan Coyle's opening goal in the 4th minute, assisted by
Taylor Duffek.
Kuan-Lin Chen further extended the lead with a goal at the 16th minute and again at the 27th minute, with assists from Duffek and
Brody Smith, respectively. Despite missing a penalty kick at 29 minutes, Tacoma continued their dominance with
Taylor Pierce scoring in the 29th minute, securing a commanding 4-0 lead by the end of the half.
The second half began with Tacoma's aggressive play as Chen fired a shot wide right in the 46th minute. Tacoma consistently applied pressure with Pierce delivering consecutive corner kicks in the 52nd minute. The scoring continued for Tacoma when Duffek netted a goal at the 80th minute, capping off the half with Tacoma leading Pierce 5-0 by the final whistle.
Tacoma dominated the first half with a 4-0 lead over the Raiders. Coyle opened scoring in the fourth minute, assisted by Duffek, who also set up Chen for his first of two goals. Chen's second goal came from a Smith assist, and Pierce capped the half with a goal just prior to halftime, despite missing a penalty kick earlier. Tacoma's offensive pressure was marked by multiple offsides and fouls, while Pierce's defense struggled to contain the visitors.
Tacoma extended their lead in the second half with a goal by Duffek in the 80th minute, sealing a decisive 5-0 victory over the Raiders. Tacoma maintained offensive pressure with four shots, including two on target, and earned three corner kicks in the half. The Raiders managed two shots and a yellow card on Luis Luna, but could not break through Tacoma's defense, with
Manny Zuniga making a key save to preserve the clean sheet.
Duffek contributed significantly with one goal and two assists, marking an effective performance upfront. Coyle scored a crucial goal, which was the game-winner, from his only shot on target. Chen added two goals to the scoreboard and was active offensively with four shots on goal out of five attempts. In goal, Zuniga maintained a clean sheet with one save, ensuring a shutout over the full 90 minutes.
Gavin Nail contributed significantly for the Raiders with two shots, leading the team in shooting attempts. Nathan Bidinger spent a full 90 minutes as goalkeeper, making four saves while facing nine shots on target. Diego Barton made a notable impact with one shot on goal, showcasing his offensive presence in the match.
Tacoma improved to 4-3-1 overall and 2-1-0 in conference play. The Raiders fell to 0-7-2 overall and 0-3-1 in conference play.
