Titan Athlete Spotlight - Emma Hoover, Women's Soccer
ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT - EMMA HOOVER
I've been an athlete for as long as I can remember.
My dad made sure that as soon as I could walk, I was out there learning how to kick a ball.
Sports have always been a huge part of my life.
I remember playing neighborhood scrimmages with all the local kids after school. It became a daily ritual for us, and those memories will always hold a special place in my heart.
As I grew older, I realized that sports were all I knew. They shaped my childhood and taught me valuable life lessons.
But it wasn't always easy.
There were injuries and burnouts.
In fact, at one point, I thought I'd never play again.
However, thanks to the encouragement of former teammates, friends, and family, I gave the sport another chance.
And I'm so grateful I did.
Road to recovery
----------------
One of the biggest obstacles I faced was when I tore my meniscus in seventh grade. It forced me to take time away from the game.
I tried to come back too soon a few times, and that only made things harder, both physically and mentally.
But after allowing myself to fully recover, I realized just how much I loved the sport.
It was one of those moments where you don't know what you have until it's gone.
I came back with a newfound appreciation and determination to give it my all.
Transition
----------
When it came time to transition from high school to college, I knew it would be a challenge.
The sport became more competitive and serious at this level. But thanks to my experience playing club soccer, it wasn't too overwhelming.
I quickly adapted and embraced the new level of intensity.
My favorite memories with this team were our travel trips.
We always had a blast, and I've formed some of my closest friendships with these incredible individuals.
We pushed each other to be better every day.
Life lessons
------------
One of the biggest lessons I've learned from my experience is that there will always be ups and downs.
But when you have a group of people who show up every day with the right mentality, anything is possible.
My advice to anyone who wants to be where I am now is to enjoy every step of the journey. It goes by so fast, and it's easy to take it for granted.
Appreciate what you have and make the best out of every situation.
Looking ahead, I plan to stay involved with the sport as much as I can.
It's been such a significant part of my life, and I can't imagine not being a part of it in some way.
So, here's to the journey so far and the exciting road ahead.
