Samantha Hutchinson comes to TCC from Western Washington University where she was an Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach for 2 years while completing her Master’s Degree in Psychology. During her time as Assistant Coach, the Vikings advanced to NCAA Tournament in each year Hutchinson had been on staff, including NCAA II Final Four appearance in 2015.

Before becoming an Assistant Coach at Western, she was a ranking defensive player for the Vikings. She finished her career second among WWU and Great Northwest Athletic Conference career dig leaders with 2,438. Hutchinson was a NCAA Division II national leader in digs per set at 7.17 in 2014 and second in total digs at 767. She was also a First-team Daktronics All-American, Second-team American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American, and a Great Northwest Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year for three straight seasons. Samantha was also recognized as First-team AVCA, Daktronics West Region all-star and First-team GNAC all-star for third straight year, unanimous for second season in row. She was also GNAC Defensive Player of the Week, earning honor for sixth time in career

In high school, Washington native from Curtis was First-team Tacoma News Tribune all-Area choice as senior. Also all-South Puget Sound League South Division pick for two straight years. Helped Vikings to 18-3 record, second straight West Central District title and second place at Class 4A state tournament as senior. Had 228 kills with a .288 hitting percentage and 352 digs. Coaches award winner and inspirational award winner. Played on teams that finished fifth at state as junior and seventh as sophomore. Samantha started and lettered three years at Curtis. Hutchinson also won Junior Olympic Bronze Medal in beach volleyball. 
   
This will be her first season as Head Coach for TCC!
