2019 Season Recap:
Katlyn was voted West Region Co-Head Coach of the Year. The Titans took home a NWAC 4th place trophy, which ties the highest placing in school history (2015). With a 17-11 record Tacoma upset the number one overall undefeated team in the first round of NWACs. Not only did they bring home a trophy but Tacoma also had Kate Pestova who was voted AVCA NWAC 2nd Team All-American. Kate is only the second All-American in school history. This past season also brought 1st Team all NWAC (Kate Pestova), 2nd Team All-NWAC (Bailey Spurgeon), 1st Team All-West Region (Kate Pestova), 2nd Team All-West Region (Bailey Spurgeon) and Two West Region Honorable Mentions (Jorie Lincoln and Kahea Ae’a).
2018:
Katlyn comes to TCC from Spokane Falls Community College where she’s been the assistant for the past two seasons. She helped the Sasquatch to a 40-0 season that ended with a NWAC Championship. While at Spokane, the Sasquatch were 76-11 and Katlyn assisted in coaching two All-Americans, an NWAC MVP, 4 NWAC All-Tournament players, 5 All-Region players and multiple East Region Players of the Week.
She is a graduate of Burlington-Edison High School, where she earned four varsity letters in volleyball, basketball and track. Her senior year she was voted Washington State Volleyball Gatorade Player of the Year, she was a prepvolleyball.com All-American and her nationally ranked high school team took home a State Championship.
For her collegiate career, Katlyn took her talents to the University of Alaska Fairbanks where she competed on the volleyball team and later transferred to Mississippi State with the help of Coach Jenni Hull. At Mississippi State, she was consistently in the starting lineup and was All-SEC Fall academic team. Katlyn then moved back to the northwest and graduated from Western Washington University with a degree in communication studies and a minor in sociology. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Athletic Administration.
