2020-2021: Earned Tacoma Athletic Commission’s 2021 Bob Robertson Sportsmanship Award…2021 NWAC Academic & Leadership Award…Winter & Spring 2021 TCC Dean’s List
2019-2020: Started in all 26 games played…leading scorer averaging 12.3 ppg on 35.2% from the floor…shot 78.4% from freethrow on the season and lead the conference with 93.3% shooting from the line in region play…scored 10+ points in 16 games… scored 23 pts vs Everett on 61.5% FG shooting and a week later scored 24pts on 9-11 FG, 3-3 from 3 point range and 3-3 on freethrows vs SPS leading TCC to a win to open up conference play…earned team MVP award
High School: Makana is a graduate of Foster High School. She earned four varsity letters in basketball and served her team as team captain for three of those years. In her senior year Makana was named All-League 2A SPSL MVP. Junior year she earned 2A SPSL 1st Team All-League, sophomore year she earned honorable mention honors and in her freshman campaign Makana was named to the 2A Seamont 1st Team All-League. She is also a two-time participant in both the South Sound All Star Game and the WA/N Idaho All State Girls Basketball Game in Spokane, WA.
Personal: Makana is the daughter of David and Kelly Montoya. She has two sisters, Bailey and Bellamy and one brother, Max. Her hometown is Kent, WA. She plans to pursue a degree in the allied health field. Makana enjoys R&B music, pasta, watching Netflix and hanging out with friends.
