Tacoma Falls to Edmonds College 80-47
LYNNWOOD, Wash. — Tacoma Community College fell to Edmonds College, 80-47, as turnovers proved costly with Tacoma committing 31, leading to 33 points for Edmonds.
The first quarter began with Ava Uusitalo scoring the opening layup for Edmonds after a steal. Tacoma responded with a layup from Laney Green, tying the game at 2-2. Hailey Mata added a three-pointer for Edmonds, assisted by Uusitalo, which helped them establish a lead. With 2:23 remaining, Cherish Parham hit a jumper to bring Tacoma within three points, making the score 13-10. Despite efforts by Tacoma, including a layup by Green, Edmonds extended their advantage with Uusitalo's layup and free throw, concluding the quarter with an 18-12 lead.
Edmonds increased their lead in the second quarter, capitalizing on turnovers and strong defensive play. Payton Fleishman and Ava Uusitalo each contributed key baskets, with Uusitalo's layup at 2:13 extending the home team's advantage. Tacoma's Jasmeen Kaur kept her team competitive, scoring multiple times, including a layup at 2:17, but Edmonds maintained control. Fleishman capped the quarter with a three-pointer at 1:56, bringing the score to 33-24 in favor of Edmonds at the half.
In the third quarter, Edmonds extended their lead significantly over TCC with a dominant performance. Darcie Gonzalez led the way for Edmonds, scoring multiple times in the paint, including a layup at 7:18 assisted by Hailey Mata, bringing the score to 40-24. Despite Tacoma's efforts, including a layup by Laney Green at 7:06, turnovers and fouls hindered their progress. Edmonds capitalized on these opportunities, with Ava Uusitalo contributing through free throws and a layup, bringing the score to 56-33 with 1:14 remaining. A late jumper by Tamairah Allen for Tacoma could not close the gap, as Edmonds finished the quarter with a 58-35 advantage.
Edmonds secured a dominant 80-47 victory over TCC, maintaining a significant lead throughout the fourth quarter. Darcie Gonzalez's three-pointer at 8:46 extended Edmonds' advantage, while Ava Uusitalo contributed with a three-pointer and a layup, pushing the score to 73-42. Tacoma's efforts included Jasmeen Kaur's layups at 7:08 and 6:46, but the team struggled to close the gap. Sade Oyebiyi's back-to-back layups in the final minutes solidified Edmonds' lead, reaching their largest margin of 35 points with just over a minute to play.

TCC dropped to 0-5 overall after the loss to Edmonds. With the victory, Edmonds evened its record at 2-2 overall.
Looking ahead, TCC will face Chemeketa on Saturday, Dec. 6. The game will take place at Peninsula College.
