TCC Secures Win in Last Pre-Season Game
BREMERTON, Wash. — Tacoma Community College (6-8, 0-0) secured a narrow 77-73 victory over Olympic College (2-14, 0-0) on Saturday afternoon. TCC maintained composure in a tense second half, capitalizing with 22 free throws to hold off a late surge by Olympic.
Tacoma opened the first half with a strong offensive performance, taking an early 6-0 lead with layups from Amare Brown and Jakoi Lide. The visitors extended their advantage to 12-2 by the 14:36 mark, capitalizing on a series of fouls by Olympic that resulted in successful free throws for Denali Hatcher. Olympic managed to close the gap to 15-10 after D'Angelo Moore's 3-pointer at 13:07, but Tacoma maintained control. Dylan Wiggins contributed key points with a jumper and free throws, helping Tacoma to hold a 39-34 lead at the end of the half.
The second half was a tightly contested battle, with both teams exchanging leads and maintaining pressure. Tacoma's Donovan Gill hit a crucial 3-pointer at the 4:00 mark to edge his team ahead 66-64. Olympic responded with a 3-pointer from D'Angelo Moore at 3:32, taking a slim 67-66 lead. In the final minute, Denali Hatcher's 3-pointer with eight seconds left propelled Tacoma to a 75-73 advantage. Hatcher then sealed the game at the free-throw line, making two shots to secure a 77-73 victory.
The second half between Tacoma and Olympic saw no scoring from either team for a brief stretch. Both squads were unable to convert on any field goal attempts or free throws during a key three-minute span, resulting in no statistical changes. The game remained tightly contested as the clock ticked down, with neither side gaining a decisive advantage until late.
