Tacoma Edges Wenatchee Valley 66-63
EVERETT, Wash. — Tacoma Community College (3-4) secured a 66-63 victory over Wenatchee Valley College (4-8) on Sunday at the Walt Price Fitness Center. This marked the third game for TCC in the Crossover Tournament, and their strong performance on the boards, with 49 total rebounds, helped them maintain their lead.
The game began with WVC taking an early lead, as Thiery Eme Ngo scored a layup at 19:09, assisted by Manase Mangala. TCC quickly responded with Donovan Gill hitting a 3-pointer at 19:04, assisted by Jakoi Lide. The home team built momentum with Samuel Taylor adding a layup at the 17:36 mark, helping TCC pull ahead. Despite WVC's efforts, including a layup by Jaxon Heusser with 33 seconds remaining, TCC retained the lead. The half concluded with TCC leading 35-31 after Taylor's layup in the final seconds.
TCC maintained a slight edge over WVC in a tightly contested second half. Samuel Taylor's pivotal 3-pointer at 12:22 gave TCC a 43-39 lead. With just over two minutes remaining, Taylor extended TCC's advantage to 61-54 with a layup assisted by Amare Brown. Despite Jaxon Heusser's late 3-pointer for WVC, TCC closed out the game with crucial free throws, including two from Taylor in the final seconds, securing a 66-63 victory.
