Portland Tops Tacoma CC in Crossover Tournament Matchup
EVERETT, Wash. — Tacoma (2-4) fell to Portland (7-3) with a final score of 97-57 at the Walt Price Fitness Center on Saturday during their second game of the Crossover Tournament. Tacoma was unable to overcome Portland's 62.7 percent shooting from the field.
The game began with Portland taking an early lead, opening the first half with a 3-pointer by Vashon Hardges at 19:28. TCC struggled to keep pace, as Portland extended their advantage to 18 points by the 1:08 mark. Jace VanVoorhis and Luke Jessup played pivotal roles for Portland, contributing significantly on both ends. Tacoma's Donovan Gill and Jakoi Lide attempted to narrow the gap with key baskets, but Portland maintained a strong defense and ended the half leading 42-24.
Portland dominated the second half, extending their lead to 42 points at one point. Hardges contributed significantly with a layup and a 3-pointer early in the half, helping Portland maintain their momentum. Gill kept TCC competitive with two 3-pointers within a minute, but the gap remained wide. Casey Talana capped Portland's performance with a 3-pointer at the 2:06 mark, sealing a commanding victory.
