TCC Edges Shoreline For 69-65 Victory
TACOMA, Wash. — Tacoma Community College secured a 69-65 victory over Shoreline on Saturday, maintaining a 22-point lead at one stage in the first half.
The game began with Tacoma quickly establishing control, opening up a 6-0 lead within the first three minutes, highlighted by Dylan Wiggins scoring four points, including a layup at 18:36. Shoreline struggled with turnovers early, which TCC capitalized on to extend their advantage to 22 points by 4:30, following a layup by Donovan Gill. Jakoi Lide was instrumental for TCC, adding a 3-pointer at 13:55 to push the lead further. Shoreline's offense was led by Jonah Coppock, who scored a buzzer-beating layup assisted by Sarbatt Singh to narrow the deficit to 42-33 at the end of the first half.
TCC maintained its lead in the second half, despite a strong push from Shoreline. With 16:54 remaining, TCC extended its advantage to 11 points following a layup by Pawlose Aschalew, assisted by Lide. Shoreline responded with a scoring run, narrowing the gap to a tie at 54-54 after a dunk by Michael Highschaw at 8:36. TCC then regained control with a crucial 3-pointer by Gill at the 3:16 mark, contributing to a 66-57 lead. Despite Shoreline's efforts to close the gap, TCC secured the win with a final score of 69-65, highlighted by a free throw from Brian Shannon Jr. in the closing seconds.
