Vaughn Lowe with 4 Hits Including Grand Slam
TACOMA, Wash. — The Tacoma Community College baseball team dominated the Lower Columbia College baseball team with an 11–1 victory on Saturday in Game 3 of the series. TCC tallied 11 hits, including two home runs, and scored in five different innings to secure the win.
Tacoma secured a decisive 11–1 victory over LCC with consistent scoring and solid defense. Vaughn Lowe provided an early lead in the second inning with a solo home run, achieving a season-high of 4 hits and 6 runs batted in during the game. After a scoreless third inning, Tacoma extended its lead in the fourth when Lowe scored on Nate Jetton's sacrifice fly, making it 2–0.
In the fifth inning, Tacoma's offense erupted. Ty Iddon reached on an error, and after consecutive walks and a single, Lowe delivered again with a powerful grand slam, bringing the score to 6–1. LCC managed a single run in their half, but Tacoma maintained control.
Tacoma added another run in the seventh when Ethan Mar doubled and then scored on Lowe's single. The eighth inning saw Tacoma further extend its lead. After two hit-by-pitches and a single by Braden Jones, Carson Ackermann tripled, clearing the bases and securing an 11–1 final score.
Oscar Hyde delivered a strong performance for TCC, pitching 7 innings and allowing only 1 earned run while scattering 7 hits. He issued 4 walks but managed to minimize damage and recorded 2 strikeouts, securing the win with a final pitch count of 99, of which 60 were strikes. Juan Hernandez-Mendoza came in as relief, pitching 1 inning and allowing 3 walks, with 7 of his 23 pitches being strikes.
