Ackermann Shines with 2 RBIs in Defeat to Centralia
CENTRALIA, Wash. — Tacoma Community College fell to Centralia with a final score of 5–3 on Thursday evening. The TCC managed eight hits and three runs, but Centralia's three doubles contributed to its victory.
Tacoma took an early lead in the second inning when Nate Jetton walked and advanced to third on an error. Kaden Cretti then singled to third base, driving in Jetton for the game's first run. The score stood at 1–0 after two innings.
In the fourth inning, Vaughn Lowe hit a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch before Carson Ackermann delivered an RBI single to left field, scoring Lowe. Ackermann notched 2 runs batted in, a season high. However, Centralia responded in its half of the inning, tying the game with a two-RBI single by Jack Skelley. The inning concluded with a 2–2 tie.
Centralia gained the lead in the fifth inning with an RBI double by Tanner Stack, bringing the score to 3–2. The home team extended its lead further in the sixth inning when Jace Bykari singled to center field, scoring two more runs. Centralia led 5–2 through six innings.
Tacoma attempted a comeback in the ninth inning. Ethan Mar walked, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ackermann. Despite additional singles by Nate Kimmel and Ty Iddon, TCC's rally fell short. The final score was Centralia 5, Tacoma 3.
Butch Kiblen started strong for TCC, pitching 4 innings with 4 strikeouts while allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits.
