Strong Pitching From Rafferty Highlights TCC Effort
LYNNWOOD, Wash. — Tacoma Community College fell to Edmonds College in an 8-0 shutout on Saturday at Triton Field. TCC was limited to three hits and ten strikeouts, while Edmonds capitalized on nine hits, including a home run, to secure the win.
Tacoma faced Edmonds in a game where Edmonds took an early lead and never relinquished it. In the first inning, Carsen Mann's single and subsequent stolen base set up Kaden Ecklund's RBI double, putting Edmonds ahead 1-0.
Edmonds extended its lead in the third inning. Noah Figuered hit a solo home run, followed by Dylan Jacobs' RBI single, bringing the score to 3-0 in favor of Edmonds after three innings.
In the seventh inning, Edmonds added another run. Dallas Sooto, after being hit by a pitch, advanced to third on a pitching error and scored, increasing the lead to 4-0.
Edmonds broke the game open in the eighth inning by scoring four runs. Ecklund was hit by a pitch and later scored on Jeff Perran's RBI groundout. Figuered's two-RBI double, followed by a single from Lucas Christensen, further extended Edmonds' advantage to 8-0.
TCC was unable to rally in the ninth, with Vaughn Lowe's single being the lone hit in the final frame. Edmonds secured an 8-0 victory.
Jake Rafferty delivered a solid performance for Tacoma, pitching 6 innings and allowing 3 earned runs on 6 hits while striking out 3 and walking 2. He demonstrated control by limiting Edmonds to just one home run and maintaining a WHIP of 1.33. Brody Palmer, in relief, faced challenges over his 2 innings of work, yielding 5 earned runs on 3 hits and issuing 2 walks, alongside 3 hit batters. Palmer managed one strikeout, but his WHIP of 2.50 reflected the difficulty in containing the Edmonds offense.
