Titans Use Pitching, Defense to Sweep Centralia
GAME TWO
The second game was about pitching as TCC starter Ryan Connor (3-0) allowed just four Centralia base runners, and only one reach second base in a complete game shutout. It was the first complete game of the season for Titans pitchers.
Connor was in complete control and at one point retired 12 consecutive Blazer batters. He finished with five strike outs and no walks.
Tacoma picked up their first run in the bottom of the first. Owen Parsons hit a one out double but was thrown out trying for third on Taylor Adams' fielder's choice. Adams advanced to third on a throwing error and scored on McGarry's single to put TCC up 1-0.
It stayed 1-0 until the bottom of the sixth on great baserunning from Stoner. He led off with a single, advanced to second on a Quinn Rawson ground out, took third on a wild pitch, and stole home for the 2-0 lead. Jake Wikel provided the third run after being hit by a pitch for the third time in the game and later coming around to score on an RBI single from Vinny Guinasso.
With the wins, Tacoma improved to 8-1 in conference play. With Wednesday's scheduled double header with Concordia University cancelled, TCC is next in action Saturday when they travel to face Grays Harbor on Saturday April 22 before returning to Minnitti Field on Sunday for two games beginning at 1 pm.
