In 13 years as the Head Coach at TCC, Ryan Mummert has led the Titans to an overall record of 404-151(73% win percentage), playoff appearances in all 13 years and has guided the Titans to the NWAC Tournament 7 of the last 9 years(excluding COVID years). Mummert led TCC to the West Region Title in 2022, the first since 2003 and only the 3rd time in school history, while also garnering West Region Coach of the Year honors. He has produced the top 6 winningest seasons in program history, setting a program record for wins in 2023 with a 44-7 record, as well as becoming the all-time winningest coach in program history. Since taking over the Head position, TCC has taken a significant jump to national recognition.
Under Mummert’s tutelage, the Titans have been one of the top, if not the top hitting team in the NWAC. Since 2015 the Titan offense has finished all but 1 season in the top 3 offensively. His 2015, 2016, 2019 and 2021 clubs were tops in NWAC as well as top 2 in almost every offensive category. TCC has produced 4 NWAC regular season hitting champions in Will Mulflur (2021/Iowa), Justin VanDeBrake (2019/WSU), Jake Vieth (2016/Gonzaga) and Jordan Woodring (2014). Vieth was the West Region and NWAC Player of the Year in 2016 while VanDeBrake was the West Region MVP in 2019. Other notable hitters under Mummert include Seth Heck (2-time SEC scholar-athlete of the year at Mississippi St, SEC All-Defensive Team), Connor Cloyd (led Ole Miss in hitting in 2015), JJ Nazzaro (Gardner-Webb), David Olson (2x All-Big South / Campbell University), Garrett DeGallier (South Alabama), Alex Hull (Cal St Northridge) and Harrison Bragg (Mississippi St) to name a few.
As good as the hitters have been, the pitching staff has enjoyed a great amount of success as well. Four times TCC has produced produced the top pitching staff in the NWAC. In 2014 the Staff led the NWAC with a 2.37 ERA, as well as leading the NWAC in WHIP, Walks and Shutouts. In 2019 the Pitching Staff posted a 2.43 ERA and were led by Pitcher of the Year Logan Gerling (Washington). In 2021, led by Pitcher of the Year Seti Manase (Indiana), the Staff led the NWAC in ERA, K/9, BBs, and Hits/Against along with 2nd in Ks and Runs. The 2023 pitching staff led the NWAC with a 1.75 ERA, lowest ever by a Titan team, while also leading the NWAC in Hits, BAA and Runs. The Titans have had a team ERA under 3.00 every year but 2 during Mummert’s tenure and since 2013, have produced 39 Division 1 arms, more than any other JC in the Northwest. Mummert coached 2014 West Region MVP and All-American Justin Vernia, who finished his Titan career with a perfect 22-0 record before moving on to Gonzaga University and Arizona Diamondbacks. Mummert also helped produce pitchers Brandon Choate (School Record for Most Appearances in a season at University of Washington), Matt Bell (All-SunBelt / South Alabama), Garrett Westberg (UCF/Seattle Mariners) Justin Feld (Gonzaga) and Dylan Watts (Auburn).
Mummert has been one of the most successful coaches at placing his players at the next level since taking over in 2011. Since 2013, no other JC in the Northwest has sent more players to the Division 1 level than TCC. He has helped 122 players move on to 4-year schools, with 71 playing at the Division I level. The Titans have also experienced a great deal of success in the classroom under Mummert. The team constantly maintains over a 3.0 GPA and set a program record in 2020 with a 3.57 team GPA. 26 players had a 3.0 or higher with 19 over a 3.5. Mummert has coached 53 NWAC All-Academic recipients.

In his first season at Tacoma, he helped the Titans get back to the NWAC Tournament for the first time since 2006.
Mummert joined Tacoma from Midland College in Midland, TX, where he spent 3 years as an Assistant Coach on David Coleman's staff. He coached infielders and hitters and other duties included recruiting, field maintenance on Christensen Stadium and he also started the first ever Baseball Camps in the history of the program.
