Tacoma (2-1-0) overcame an early deficit to defeat Blue Mountain (2-1-0) 6-2, scoring five second-half goals at BMCC Soccer Field in Pendleton, OR.
The first half kicked off with Tacoma's
Javier Villegas opening the scoring at the 14-minute mark, assisted by
Davyd Fedina, giving Tacoma an early 1-0 lead. Blue Mountain quickly responded, equalizing in the 16th minute through Angel Saldiver and taking the lead with Ben Stoyanov's goal at the 24th minute. Tacoma's offense continued to press with several attempts, including shots by
Kuan-Lin Chen and
Taylor Duffek, but they were unable to convert, finishing the half trailing 2-1.
In the second half, Tacoma dominated the field, starting with Fedina's equalizing goal in the 49th minute. Tacoma maintained offensive pressure, with Chen scoring at 70', assisted by
Taylor Pierce, to give Tacoma the lead. The scoring streak continued as
Amadou Ceesay, Duffek, and
Nathan Coyle each found the back of the net, securing Tacoma a decisive 6-2 victory over Blue Mountain.
Nathan Coyle contributed significantly with one goal and one assist, leading Tacoma in shots with four, two of which were on target.
Kuan-Lin Chen scored a goal, which was the game-winner, and had two of his three shots on target. Fedina also made a notable impact by scoring a goal and providing an assist, while leading the team in shots on goal with four out of five shots. Duffek and Ceesay each added a goal to the team's total, with Duffek making two of his three shots on target and Ceesay hitting the target with both of his two shots.
Saldiver and Stoyanov both scored goals for Blue Mountain, with Saldiver netting a goal from his only shot on target. Stoyanov contributed with both a goal and an assist, also scoring with his only shot on target. Noa Araiza, playing as goalkeeper, recorded seven saves, facing 13 shots and managing four saves in the second half.
With the win, Tacoma improved to 2-1-0 on the season. The loss left Blue Mountain also at 2-1-0 for the year.
Looking ahead, the Titans travel to Walla Walla, WA, to take on Walla Walla on August 25. The match kicks off at 10:00 AM. as Tacoma aims to secure a victory on the road.
