TCC Baseball wins the West securing the #1 seed into NWAC Championships

Titans celebrate after securing West Region Championship in a 10-0 win over Pierce
Titan Baseball wrapped up regular season play over the weekend in a 4- game series with Pierce College. Tacoma hosted games 1 and 2 of the series at Minnitti Field Friday. The Pierce College Raiders, who trailed the Titans in the standings by three wins took game 1 by a score of 5-3.

The Titans secured the West Region title with a 10-0 win over the Raiders in Game 2. The game, which lasted just five innings, showcased the Titans' dominance on both offense and defense.

Isaac Evaniew delivered a masterclass performance on the mound, recording an impressive six strikeouts while throwing a no-hitter to stifle the Pierce Raiders' offense. Evaniew's impressive outing kept the opposing batters at bay throughout the entirety of the game.

Contributions from key players propelled the Titans to victory, with Julius Hooks and Chase Cretti pitching in a hit a piece while Logan Shepherd, Jack Bergstrom, Isaiah Afework, and Zion Williams each delivered two hits in the contest. Their combined efforts set the tone for the game, providing the offensive firepower needed to secure the win. The Titans' offensive onslaught was highlighted by a total of eight RBIs, with Shepherd, Williams, Bergstrom, and Cretti each contributing to the team's impressive tally. Their clutch hitting in key moments of the game ensured that the Titans maintained a commanding lead.

In addition to the win, the Titans celebrated their sophomores (Drew Johsnon, Aden Dance, Julius Hooks, Zion Williams, Noah Fields, Elijah Higginbottom, Jeramiah Crain, Isaac Evaniew and Cade Gibson) as they played their final game at Minnitti Field. In addition to their recent championship, this group of sophomores has a combined record of 74 wins and 15 loses in their careers at Tacoma and helped the Titans establish a new school record for wins in a season in 2023 with their 44 win season.

The Titans split the series with Pierce 2-2 and finished the regular season with an 18-6 conference record solidifying their position as the #1 seed from the West. They will head to NWAC Championships set to take place over Memorial Day weekend at David Story Field in Longview, WA.
